Andy Houldsworth
Managing Director
Andy started working with computers in 1979. He worked as a freelance for the UK's first computer magazine Computing World in 1980. He spent the 80's running the European HQ of a small US software company that specialised in converting documents from different text processing systems, from mainframes and typesetting systems. This meant that he got a chance to play with a vast arrange of equipment such as the first machine with a mouse - the Xerox Star, the full range of Apple equipment from the Apple IIe, Lisa and the original Macintosh. Andy worked alongside Wang, Data General, Unisys, Digital and other companies from computing's cro-magnon era. He studied Arabic to help with the task of converting files from Arabic WP systems and was in at the birth of PostScript. An early adopter of email, he had a Telcom Gold account in 1985. In the 90s Andy worked as a sales and marketing director for a company selling scanners and Imagesetting systems into companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi.

Andy started desiging web sites for this company in early 95. This company was taken over in 1995 and in 1996 Andy left to start Digital Ink.

Andy has been a judge on the Production Journal UK Newspaper Awards three times and has spoken at a number of international publishing and IT conferences in Denmark, the US, Italy and the UK.

Andy is lead designer and project manager on most Digital Ink web projects and has a number of programming languages under his belt.
