Web Hosting and Email Services from Digital Ink

Digital Ink hosts on three operating systems: Unix, Linux, Windows 2003. This may seem over the top, but it gives us the greatest range of software and utilities to choose from.

As we host a number of household name sports web sites we have to have a great deal of "spare" bandwidth. Our loading is seasonal as Rugby Union and Football start in August build steadily through the season and hit a maximum in May and then bandwidth requirements drop off during the closed season. Traffic increases dramatically if a club is in the closing stages of a major cup competition and also if new players are signed or a manager leaves. Digital Ink has to have enough bandwidth to cope with this happening with several clubs at the same time. On the 30th and 31st of May 2006 the Charlton site had over 80,000 unique visitors as a new manager Iain Dowie was announced, during the same period we sold £270,000 worth of season tickets, all without causing a ripple on Charlton's servers or our sites.

We host a number of web sites that we did not design or build, from small 4 page web brochures up to large local government web sites.

The company has a range of hosting packages for web sites and provides email and secure server options as well.

All servers are backed up daily onto tape and are protected from power failure by Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), which also clean the electric feed to the network.

We run most common middleware programs and utilities, plus a wide variety of the common database programs.
